Dear Jess,

COVID-19 has affected us all, but students and families in low-income communities have been disproportionately impacted. Many kids are losing critical learning time simply because they lack access to high-speed Internet or the devices necessary for remote learning. Some are struggling to focus because they're missing meals they normally received at school.

Our teachers and alumni are doing all they can to help students and their families in the wake of COVID-19, but they need your help. You can do your part through Direct to Community Giving.

Most of first grade teacher Jane Hose's students have no access to a tablet or a computer. Because of this, they're unable to complete their online work, access important educational resources, or even see their teacher's face.

"I'm extremely concerned that without access to technology, my students will lose hard won skills, will not progress academically, and will be woefully unprepared to move on to second grade," Jane writes.

But with tablets, Jane's students could access Zoom lessons, read alouds, and educational games that will help prepare them for next year. Jane shared her need for 25 Amazon Fire tablets on our new Direct to Community Giving page. And just last week, thanks to generous individuals like you, she raised enough money for all 25. Yet there are many more educators and community leaders with needs ranging from tablets to groceries.

Your contribution to any one of them can make a direct and important impact on these students' lives. Jess, learn more about how you can help fulfill requests for support through our Direct to Community Giving page today.

With gratitude,
